Renew the app every 7 days

With a free Apple ID, Xcode signs TROME for 7 days. After that, the app does not open, and its icon stays on your iPhone. This page installs it again for 7 more days, in about 5 minutes, and the best day to do it is a weekend, before the app stops.

You need the iPhone and its cable, and the Mac where you installed TROME, with the folder ~/trome still there. You do not turn on Developer Mode or trust yourself again, and you do not delete the app first: it keeps its data and your choices.

  1. Connect the iPhone to the Mac with the cable, and unlock the iPhone.

  2. In Terminal, go to the folder of the code, create the Xcode project again, and open it:

    Fenêtre de terminal
    cd ~/trome
    make generate
    open ios/TROME.xcodeproj

Run make generate each time, even when nothing changed: it keeps the project in step with the code. The last line of make generate shows your bundle IDs, and Xcode opens the project.

  3. At the top of the Xcode window, choose the scheme TROME and your iPhone.

  4. Click Run, or press Cmd + R. The app opens on the iPhone, and it works for 7 more days.

To get the newest TROME at the same time, run git pull in ~/trome before you create the project again.

When the iPhone says Untrusted Developer again, do its trust steps once more, in Run the app on your iPhone. When Xcode shows an error, look it up in Fix a problem with the install.
